An Unsung Hero Saved Me, Silently

Hands holding a small phoenix statue over a table with scattered books and a coffee mug — a moment reflecting how someone’s words brought comfort, clarity, and strength.

"You know how they say not all heroes wear capes."
"Well, I say, not all heroes even try to be one."

I have this habit. A random thought hits me, and the next thing I know, I’m spiraling down a Google rabbit hole, chasing articles and posts about it. I have to figure it all out, like my life depends on it.

A couple of years ago, one such quest had me digging into the meaning of the word authenticity. That curiosity led me to a LinkedIn article. That article led me to the writer’s profile. And that’s where it happened — admiration at first scroll.

Before I knew it, I was reading everything she’d written over the years. Her posts were beautiful and honest. Her thoughts had the qualities of a mountain river: clear, therapeutic, and flowing with a sweet melody. I noticed she never wrote just for the sake of it. She wrote only when she had something to say.

I've been connected with her on LinkedIn since then. I've read about her journey, her brave battle with a life-threatening malady, her adventures, her work, and how gracefully she embraces life.

I once sent her a message. Just a simple thank you for the inspiration and calm her words brought me, saving me time and again. She replied with warmth and gratitude.

It's amazing how you find a hero out of the blue. The kind who’s just out there, living their truth, and unknowingly lighting up the path for others.
